Team Excell Run in the Berlin Marathon in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust

On Sunday 28th September almost 40,000 participants took off under optimal weather conditions in Berlin and were positively carried along the marathon course by the numerous live bands and a million spectators. Among the runners were four elite athletes (well, Excell employees) running to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The highlight for everyone was passing through the Brandenburg Gate and down the last few metres past the grand stands across the finish to rapturous applause. The crowning touch to the marathon weekend was the 48 hour party that ensued.

The runners from Excell had aimed to raise £1000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and more specifically toward the cost of sofa beds for parents who wish to sleep over in the TCT units. The generous support to date from family, friends and colleagues has seen the target smashed with the current total standing at £1,350. It's not too late to add to this, simply go to: www.justgiving.com/teamexcell.

Excell's resident mockney and MD of Excell South East, Dave Rogers commented:

"It was a fantastic day, everything was perfect - the build up, the weather, the spectators and of course my teammates. You probably only get a day like that once in a lifetime. It was more than just a Marathon though, it was weekend of culture, of many many laughs, of memories that I will never forget, and of memories that I probably should forget!"

About TCT
Every day in the UK, six teenagers are diagnosed with cancer. At Teenage Cancer Trust, we understand that cancer doesn't stop these teenagers being teenagers. We know that young people have a much better chance if they are treated by teenage cancers experts, in an environment tailored to their needs. So we have created specialist units that aren't like ordinary cancer wards. Everything about them has been designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. And we want every young person with cancer in this country to have that chance.
