This month Excell Group hosted the very first Digital Duxford at the iconic Imperial War Museum. Although spaces were extremely limited, the event brought together over 100 local and national delegates as they enjoyed a lovely sunny morning learning about the latest strategies for digital transformation as delivered by communication market leaders Avaya and world-renowned speaker Jonathan Macdonald.
Dan Pope, head of events at Excell Group, said: “Through our research, we found that many business owners believe that the digital economy will have a major impact on their business, yet hardly any were executing a digital strategy. This made Digital Duxford a very relevant and timely event for our customers and prospects to attend, some of whom are in the very early stages of their digital transformation journeys and wanted to get a head start on the competition.”
As well as hearing from keynote speakers Jonathan Macdonald and Rick Hawkes, respectively discuss the power of change in business and the technologies available to support that change, there was also a chance for several delegates to experience one of Duxford’s more unique attractions.
A bucket list moment for the delegates
After the keynotes had wrapped up and the gourmet lunch had all but been consumed, every delegate was entered in a prize draw to win a special flight in two of Duxford’s most historic planes, the Tiger Moth and Dragon Rapide. Once the draw was conducted, these legendary aircraft, which incredibly were first in service over 85 years ago, were used to transport 7 lucky delegates into the air, flying at an altitude of over 3000 feet, allowing for stunning clear blue-sky views over Cambridge.
Feedback for Digital Duxford has been flooding in with one person summing up the day quite succinctly:
“Johnathan’s presentation was entertaining whilst the information from Avaya was topical and interesting for us. Thanks for the flight in the Dragon Rapide, I’ve been considering doing that for a while and that’s another box ticked! I’m looking forward to working with Excell on what our future options may be.” – Howard Williams, HL Display
It wasn’t just the delegates offering feedback with keynote speaker and business guru Jonathan Macdonald also waxing lyrical:
“I had a wonderful time at Digital Duxford. It was a great crowd who are pro-active and courageous about the future. They’re in safe hands with Excell and I’d love to help out more in the future!”
Whilst Digital Duxford may be over for one year, Dan Pope says this is just the beginning of a new events driven strategy for Excell:
‘Whilst Digital Duxford was clearly a wonderful success, this is just the start of a renewed focus on hosting problem-solving digital-related events for our customers and prospects. Evidently, there is a lot of value in getting like-minded business professionals together in the same room, not only from a learning perspective but also as an opportunity to share best practices, new ideas and discuss the common challenges and solutions that we are all facing in today’s increasingly digital-first world.”
