During our work experience placement, we were provided with an insight into the wide range of roles, customers and products and services Excell offers. Based in Soho, we had a taste of the London commute, experiencing three days of jam-packed work, alongside all the perks!
Day 1 – 17th June 2019
We kicked off our day with an introduction to Excell through a welcoming introduction and talk about the company, before moving onwards and beginning our grand tour. This tour included a visit to Excell’s London office and a handful of workspace offices where Excell provides superfast connected services. Cargo Works and the Leather Market, two buildings that Excell provides connected services for, were included in our visit, including a trip to the almighty Comms room which keeps the building connected. Following a quick lunch in Nando’s, we were taken back on a tube to Liverpool Street, a short walk from our next destination, Salisbury House. We concluded day 1 through consolidating all our knowledge about Excell, having a deeper understanding of the vast network of customers that Excell has across London.
Day 2 – 18th June 2019
Day 2 involved several tasks with Excell’s business centre solutions. We were challenged with proposing a new name, slogan and theme to create a sub-brand for this part of the business. This was approached through the creation of a mind map and mood board to display our ideas. A further task involved finding flexible office spaces that would benefit from using Excell’s services, building buyer personas for key contacts and researching potential new opportunities. It was fun brainstorming this task in Excell’s London office, in an open workspace with sofas, a speedy Deliveroo and ping pong table! After a hard days work, we grabbed a taxi back to London Victoria train station and returned home to Brighton.
Day 3 – 19th June 2019
The third and final day revolved around learning about the engineering aspect of Excell, including a visit to a site for a more ‘hands on’ experience, allowing us to see how Excell keeps buildings across London and beyond connected. We summarised everything we gained from this experience in this blog, while experiencing the office atmosphere firsthand, a strong team community with positive energy.

So, what did we learn? Excell provides superfast connections to many customers across London and beyond, playing a key role in keeping workspace offices up and running. Throughout our work experience, we were stepping out of our comfort zone to learn about different areas of expertise, understanding what it means to work in London and more importantly, for Excell.
We’d like to thank everyone at Excell for being so welcoming and kind in sharing what they do. If you’re given the opportunity to take work experience at Excell, make sure you take it, you won’t regret it!
